BCS is a Mauritius-headquartered wholesale telecom infrastructure provider, operating under licenses in each of Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda, also serving Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Zambia at their respective border points. The Group owns over 2500 km of terrestrial fiber in Uganda and up to 50 Gbps capacity in The East African Marine System (“TEAMS”), through its 1.25% shareholding in the undersea cable system. BCS Group also leases additional bandwidth to provide seamless back haul connectivity and redundancy to the region’s telecom operators and internet service providers. Since 2014, BCS Group has leveraged its construction expertise in several East and Central African markets, to build over 2,480 km of fiber networks as Engineering, Procurement and Construction (“EPC”) contractor for third parties.
By virtue of operating its own network infrastructure, BCS Group has access to near-unlimited bandwidth with which to serve its growing customer base. BCS Group’s management estimates that the Group’s network carries one-third of the internet capacity in each of Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda, measured by traffic volume. Our customers in these markets account for two-thirds of data subscribers and they use our services for about half of their capacity needs.

The group owns and operates an approximate of 4,050 kilometers of fiber network in Kenya and Uganda with over 2500 fiber cable kilometers including 24+ points of presence. It also deals with back haul internet and dark fiber services which in turn delivers a dedicated high capacity and low dormancy bandwidth.
The group also offers a range of managed bandwidth, lit fiber solutions including IP transit, flexible and scalable data for client partners.
Meet The Team
Yonus Maru – Founder & Managing Director
Yonas is the founder and shareholder of BCS Group, having conceived the business plan and establishing the company in 2009. He retains the Managing Director position in the Group, which he has held.
Daphne Byonabye – Group Legal and Regulatory Manager
Daphne joined BCS in November 2014, where she heads up the legal department, handling all legal and regulatory matters of the holding company and each of the subsidiaries forming the BCS Group She brings with her 9 years.
John Orutwa – Chief Operations Officer
John is the newest addition to BCS’s senior management team, having only just joined the Group in May 2017. His responsibilities include oversight of all operations, including network, IT systems and commercial operations.
Elijah Kimani – Chief Financial Officer
Elijah has held the position of BCS Group’s Chief Financial Officer since September 2014; he is mainly based in the Nairobi office. Previously, he was the Group’s Director Commercial and Strategy for a period of two years.
David Owino – Executive Director, Business Development
David has been with BCS Group since inception, having helped to develop the business strategy, obtain the necessary licensing, setting up the group legal structure, on-boarding key suppliers and signing-up key customers.
